26 cyclists rode towards the Eiffel Tower in Paris on Sunday 28th, filled with excitement and a massive sense of achievement. We had done it. Fantastic! On arrival we heard that we had raised a little over £40,000 for the work of Familylife. More celebration.
As a group we had faced all kinds of challenges during the 235 mile journey, which started in Trafalgar Square, London on the previous Thursday. At times it was like cycling in an oven (we recorded 38.5 degrees Celsius). There were hills and dales; rough tracks and potholes; styles, stairs and a dodgy Garmin, which sent one group on a grand 6 mile detour on the outskirts of Paris!
Together the cyclists pedalled over 6000 miles, survived four dramatic crashes and dealt with five punctures. Fortunately there were no serious injuries, only a smashed mobile phone. The support team of four drove two vans, lifted bags over 300 times and served thousands of sandwiches and much more. They wore silly socks and smiled continuously.
There were plenty of hazards as well as beautiful countryside to savour. Most of all there was lots of encouragement as well as banter to help each other along the way.

It’s all in a great cause and there’s more on that below. To help the team achieve their target of £60,000 please consider making a donation HERE.
What are we raising money for?
FamilyLife wants to give every person in the UK the opportunity to experience transformed relationships. We are currently working on a unique and exciting digital resource, an ‘app’, that will be able to do just that …reach every person in the UK, and beyond.
Our app brings together in a fun and engaging way the best of the practical tools from our existing resources and lots of NEW features, combined with video clips from normal couples sharing real stories. The great thing is that anyone will be able to access this …any time and any place!
Work on our digital resource is well under way. We need an additional £60,000 to take the resource from test module to live app with potential to help strengthen thousands of families.
